Cross a Creek. |
The long
descent began and we left the park to continue on forest track,
stopping only to taste the wild raspberries, before arriving at the
river below in time for lunch.
The
journey to Katricoin, altitude 200m, our destination for the night,
was on a dirt road, lined with mandarine trees, where we benefited
from the fallen fruit.
We
arrived in the afternoon to a welcome tea (goûter) of orangeade,
bread, jam and fruit provided by our hosts, Elena and the Table Unio
Women’s Association.
Some of
us installed ourselves in the old school, while others set up their
tents, and we all refreshed ourselves with a cold shower.
In honor
of the Fête de la musique, we all sang during the apperative before
diner.
We made
an early start the following morning and were on the dirt road again
at 8.30, descending gradually to folow the river, admiring the
beautiful scenery on the way. Then we made the only real ascent of
the whole trip, up the Boghen Hill.
When we reached the summit (225m
altitude) it started to rain. Fortunately, all that was left our
journey was a long winding descent on the tarmac road to Moindou (20m
altitude). We ate our picnic lunch together under the protection of
the market of Moindou, before parting to return home.
A big
thank you to Véronique and Bruno for organizing this excellent
outing.
